Pirates Re-Sign Ledezma To One-Year Deal

Wil Ledezma

The Pirates re-signed left-hander Wil Ledezma to a one-year contract and avoided salary arbitration Wednesday.

First basemen Jeff Clement and Steve Pearce and pitchers Jose Ascanio and Ross Ohlendorf were re-instated from the 60-day disabled list.

Ascanio, Ohlendorf and Pearce were placed on the 40-man roster, while Clement was optioned to the Triple A Indianapolis farm club. Outfielder Brandon Moss and pitchers Sean Gallagher, Steven Jackson and Justin Thomas were sent to Indianapolis as well.

Gallagher, Jackson and Moss are eligible to become minor league free agents.

This past season, Ledezma, 29, went 0-3 with a 6.86 ERA in 11 relief outings. He was entering his second year of arbitration eligibility.

Pitcher Chan Ho Park became a free agent after the World Series concluded on Monday night. Park's return to the team has not been ruled out.

The moves left 38 players on the 40-man roster.
