Dominican Winter League
Playing his first game in eight days, the Gigantes’ Leury Garcia got the start at shortstop and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. The 21-year-old prospect, who was added to the Rangers’ 40-man roster earlier this week, is now batting .274 in 21 winterball contests.

Profar got the start at shortstop and batted second on Wednesday while Hanley Ramirez played DH and batted third. Through eight winterball games, the Rangers’ top prospect is 4-for-22 with a double and a home run. He’s drawn four walks and struck out four times.
Venezuelan Winter League
Lara’s Guilder Rodriguez entered as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and grounded out in his only plate appearance. The defensive specialist is now 6-for-37 (.162) at the plate this season.
Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)
No Rangers appeared in Liga Paralela on Wednesday, but the league has posted box scores from Tuesday’s action.
On Tuesday, Caracas starting pitcher Richard Alvarez (1.62 ERA/.200 BAA) improved to 6-0 on the season after he hurled six innings of four-hit, shutout ball. He struck out three and walked two while inducing 11 groundouts and just three flyouts.
In seven appearances (five starts), Alvarez has the following Liga Paralela stat-line––33.1 ip, 24 h, 6 er, 5 bb, 22 k.
Shortstop Edwin Garcia, also playing for Caracas, singled once in three at-bats.

Although the 24-year-old Felix has been just a part-time backstop for Guasave during this winterball campaign, he’s impressed with the bat when in the lineup.
