With The Trade of closer Mike Gonzalez to Atlanta. Pittsburgh will plug veteran right-hander Salomon Torres into the closers role. Torres posted a 3-6 mark last year with a 3.28 ERA. Torres filled the closers spot in September and October when Gonzalez was injured and posted 12 saves down the stretch. PirateDugout.com's George Von Benko spoke recently with Torres.

GVB-- How has the off-season gone for you?

ST-- It's been cold. It's the first time that I've spent the off-season in cold weather. It's been interesting and so far it's been good. We just finished the caravan and it was an amazing thing - priceless you know like they do on the credit card commercial. It was an amazing experience - that was my first time ever and to be able to interact with the fans out there even though it was cold weather and snowing all over the place, but it was worth it.
