Maholm Hoping To Get On A Roll

Paul Maholm

Paul Maholm (3-9, 5.00) looks to build off his solid last outing when he takes the ball for the Pirates Wednesday night in Seattle. Maholm allowed one run and three hits in seven innings of a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday, bouncing back after going 0-5 with a 5.26 ERA in his previous six starts. PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko spoke with Maholm after his last start.

GVB-- The performance against the White Sox had to feel good - you had to feel good getting out of first inning trouble with limited damage?

PM-- I think it was a confidence booster getting out of the first inning with only one run. I was able to go in the dugout and talk to Colby (Pitching coach Jim Colborn) and Paulino and make the adjustment. Then just go out there and be aggressive and just make them hit the ball on the ground.
