Pirates Prospect Interview: Starling Marte

High Class A outfielder Starling Marte, among the Pirates' top prospects and maybe the system's best athlete, had hand surgery this week. PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko spoke with Marte through an interpreter just before he suffered his injury.

Marte was shut down May 13 after scoring the winning run as a pinch-runner. He was batting .283 with 12 RBIs and a team-leading nine steals for the Bradenton Marauders. Marte had successful surgery May 18 to remove the hook of the hamate bone in his left hand. No tendon damage was detected. Marte is expected to miss 8-10 weeks. GVB...
