Pirates Minor League Notebook 8/31 Premium Story

Major league teams can expand their rosters on Sept. 1 but don’t expect many players from the Pirates minor league system to take their acts to PNC Park any time soon.

“No there aren’t,” Pittsburgh general manager Dave Littlefield said. “I don’t mean to be evasive about it, but those players still have a few games left and it’s hard for the guys who aren’t coming because it makes it difficult to finish off the season. This is not to say they won’t be professional, but it’s the best way to go.”
