The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Rice shortstop Brian Friday in the third round of the recent Major League Baseball Draft. Friday batted .336 for the Owls with three home runs and 30 RBI. Rice posted a 56-14 record and captured a berth in the College World Series. PiratesDugout.com’s George Von Benko caught up with Friday recently.
