Right-hander Duke Welker was drafted by the Pirates in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft. This is his first year of full-season pro baseball after spending 2007 with the State College. The 22-year old had a rough start at Hickory and is 2-8 with a 4.67 ERA. He has pitched well in his last three starts allowing a total of six runs.
