| Dempster saved 33 of 35 games for the Cubs in 2005 after originally beginning the year in the starting rotation. He received a three-year, $15.5 million contract extension through the 2008 season. The right-hander was just 1-9 with a 4.80 ERA in 74 appearances with the Cubs in 2006. He saved 24 games and struck out 67 in 75 innings. |
