| Gomes, a fan favorite at Tropicana Field, burst onto the baseball scene in April of 2006, tying for the month AL lead with 12 home runs.
Injuries and infrequent opportunities, however, have limited the power-hitting outfielder/DH from posting up similar numbers for much of the past two seasons.
Headed into spring training, he is expected to platoon in a DH/right field role with oft-injured outfielder Rocco Baldelli and recent free agent signing Cliff Floyd. |
