Drafted by Boston in the 13th round, 1994; traded to Montreal with RHP Tony Armas Jr. for RHP Pedro Martinez, 11/18/97; traded to Florida with LHP Graeme Lloyd, INF Mike Mordecai and RHPs Justin Wayne and Don Levinski for 1B-OF Cliff Floyd, INF Wilton Guerrero and RHP Claudio Vargas, 7/11/02; signed with New York Yankees, 12/22/04; signed with Cleveland, 1/6/09.
On disabled list 7-12 to 9-11-99 (right elbow; 6-25 to 11-14-00 (right triceps); 3-23 to 8-15-01 (right elbow); 6-28-05 to end of season (right shoulder); 3-29-06 to end of season (right shoulder); 4-10-07 to end of season (right forearm); 3-21-08 to 8-23-08 (Tommy John elbow surgery).
Best season by far was 2004, when he helped the Florida Marlins win the World Series. He went 18-8 with a 3.00 ERA during the regular season, 2-0 in relief in the NL Division Series, 0-0 with a 2.35 ERA in the NL Championship Series and 0-0 with a 1.00 ERA in two games in the World Series. In 19 1-3 postseason innings that year, he allowed 17 hits, three walks, and struck out 15.
